When I was in Alabama for the New Year, Kyle and I posed once again for his mother. This time is was a Wedding Portrait for our upcoming wedding in April, though I’m sure the out takes and other ideas will end up making a few great paintings. Below are two images, the whole painting by Terry Strickland and the detail of Kyle’s hand that had be so impressed. Also there was some delicious looking fruit, but these were the real gems.

I’ve been a comic book geek since my brother got me into the 90’s X-Men animated series. I’ve been a huge fan of some superhero movies (because some have been great and some have been God-awful) since seeing X-Men in theaters. Lately I’ve been really excited for Marvel Comics gaining back the rights to produce their own movies because Iron Man and Norton!Hulk were awesome. After some really frightening rumours about the Spider-man franchise using one of my favourite characters (Black Cat/Felicia Hardy) but making her not Black Cat, I was really pleased to hear about the Spider-man series reboot. They have got a new director (Webb, I’m sure the puns will get old) and are recasting all rolls. The best part? They want unknowns.
Superhero movies have been plagued by the need to cast a celebrity that may not fit the roll entirely well. Now we have a director who realizes the fan base is enough of a draw without a big star on the poster!!! This brings me to my new dream. I want to play Mary Jane. I look young enough to be a high-school MJ, I had dark red hair for about two years of my life and it looked good, and I have combat training.
Below are some photos of when I had red hair, because all of the red-head photos in the gallery are in really darkly-lit scenes.
Anyone know who’s casting?

A second painting in the series I modeled for back in March has been completed. The artist, Terry Strickland is my future mother-in-law. She’s currently showing at the Principle Gallery Artist’s Choice Exhibition.
The new painting features me and my fiance, Kyle Strickland. Click the detail below to see the full painting at her site.

A couple weeks ago I went down to Alabama and visited with my fiance, then we drove out to Georgia for Anime Weekend Atlanta, and then we drove back to Alabama the morning of the flood. The thunder was LITERALLY shaking the bed I slept in that morning. Also I was stalked by a sweet cat named Moonpie.
We rocked Saturday in Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Tuxedo Mask, and Melvin costumes. Anna “Banana” Heim (the Costume Queen!), dressed us. She really makes me look tall.
Next year for the con, we’re doing a collaborative effort. Let’s just say, I’ll be doing some props and armour, and Anna still has domain over the sewing thing.
Here’s a pic!
Click to make bigger. My legs sure got tired from doing odd knock-kneed crouch poses for twenty minutes at a time all day, but that’s what happens when you have a costume queen like Anna making your garb. I’m going to try to go to Anime Boston, because AWA was so much fun.

Now you can see the painting I modeled for at Terry Strickland’s website in her Shakespeare Series. Check it out. Terry Strickland has been featured in a number of shows and art magazines (most recently International Artist Magazine and at the “Embracing Our Differences” installation in Island Park, Sarasota Bayfront, FL.
I just got off the phone with Dominic Fuggetta from Exxcell. He’s been working on The Fighter as Marky Mark’s stand in. We talked about some auditions and my meeting with Sheila Jaffe this summer. He let me know that they’ve been submitting me for Greek, The Pregnancy Pact, an AT&T commercial, and a bunch of other things.
So, here’s hoping things work out.
I need to look at my calendar now because they’ve got someone from MGM coming in October.

A lot of updates. First is the new look, which, if you’ve been here previously, you’ll have noticed. But new graphics are nothing special. Check what I’ve been up to:
This spring, while I was in Birmingham, I posed for Artist and future in-law, Terry Strickland. The detail below is a preview of a larger painting that will soon be seen on Terry’s site. The painting in full can be seen on her facebook now.
In other news, I’ve started a new series you can find on my Youtube account called “How Not To Be A Jerk At A Retail Store This Christmas”. It’s a video blog about retail, common sense, and how to avoid being the one we all rant about in the break room on our fifteens.

Check the new promo for the Indie Web Show, The Guild. There’s something very admirable about a group of actors and film makers who, not getting the studio support they want, decide to go out and do it on their own anyway!

I’ll be going to Alabama in September to spend some time with my fiance, then we’ll be road-tripping to Atlanta to spend the weekend with my Maid of Honor and attend Anime Weekend Atlanta with her and some other friends. We’re doing the Sailor Moon group for nostalgia’s sake. I’m going as Sailor Mercury.
Should be fun!

I was extremely proud of the Emmys for noticing Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog this year, but now Twitter is buzzing with disturbing news. Word on the Tweet is that the Emmy’s live telecast will not feature the writing awards. Instead the writers will have to meet early inside to accept their awards off the air while we, at home, watch Joan Rivers ask Dr. McDreamy’s Arm candy who designed her gown. The Director’s Guild is reasonably upset. I’d have thought, if anything, that the writer’s strike would have shown Hollywood that yes, yes, Writers are VITAL.
Another article tries to clear this up. Producers claim it will be run, but it is being pretaped to “trim the fat” (people hugging, walking up to the podium, etc.) I hope this is true, but I have to wonder why they don’t “trim the fat” by pretaping more than just the writers!
